# Create a Jira issue from Postman

Once you [connect your Jira account to your Postman account](/docs/integrations/available-integrations/jira/connect/), you can create a new Jira issue from an HTTP collection, collection run, response, or monitor results in Postman. You can also link to an existing issue.

With Jira and Postman, you can see the status of all open issues, track your project's status, and assess your API's performance, all from Postman.

## Create a Jira issue from a collection, collection run, response, or monitor

If there's a problem with your HTTP collection, [collection run](/docs/collections/running-collections/intro-to-collection-runs/), one of your HTTP responses, or one of your monitor runs, you can create a new Jira issue from Postman.

To create a Jira issue from a collection, collection run, response, or monitor, do the following:

1. Open an HTTP collection, request, or monitor. Then, open the collection's known issues, run the collection, send the request, or run the monitor or select a previous run:

   * To open the collection's known issues, under **Known issues**, click the number of issues.
   * To run the collection, click <img alt="Run icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-run-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **Run**, set up the run, and run it.    * To send the request, click **Send**.
   * To run the monitor click <img alt="Run icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-run-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **Run**. To learn more see [set up a monitor](/docs/monitoring-your-api/setting-up-monitor/).

2. Open the Jira form:

   * From a collection's known issues, click <img alt="Add icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-add-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **New**. Postman prompts you to create a new issue or link to an existing one.
   * From the collection run or response pane, click <img alt="Options icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-options-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **View more actions**. Then, click **Add to Jira Cloud**. Postman prompts you to create a new issue or link to an existing one.
   * From the Monitors dashboard, which you can navigate to by clicking Monitors in the sidebar, click <img alt="Options icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-options-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **View more actions**. Then, click **Add to Jira Cloud**. Postman prompts you to create a new issue or link to an existing one.

3. Select a Jira site and project. To search for a project, start typing its name.

4. Select a work type. Postman displays any required and optional fields.

5. Edit the summary and (optional) description.

6. (Optional) If you sent a request, choose to include the response in the issue.

7. Select an assignee. To search for an assignee, start typing their name.

8. Complete any required fields. (Optional) Then, complete any optional fields. To see the optional fields, click **‌Show optional fields**.

9. Click **Create Issue**.

Postman creates a new Jira issue for you and links it to your collection, collection run, response, or monitor. When you view your issue’s description in Jira, you’ll see a link to your collection, collection run, response, or monitor in Postman.

## Link to an existing Jira issue from a collection, collection run, response, or monitor

If there's an issue with your HTTP collection, [collection run](/docs/collections/running-collections/intro-to-collection-runs/), your HTTP responses, or one of your monitors, you can link to an existing Jira issue from Postman.

To link to an existing Jira issue from a collection, collection run, response or monitor, do the following:

1. Open an HTTP collection, request, or monitor. Then, open the collection's known issues, run the collection, send the request, or run the monitor:

   * To open the collection's known issues, under **Known issues**, click the number of issues.
   * To run the collection, click <img alt="Run icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-run-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **Run**, set up the run, and run it.    * To send the request, click **Send**.
   * To run the monitor, click <img alt="Run icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-run-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **Run** on the monitor dashboard. Or you can select a specific run.

2. Open the Jira form:

   * From a collection's known issues, click <img alt="Add icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-add-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **New**. Select the **Connect to an existing issue** option.
   * From the collection run or response pane, click <img alt="Options icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-options-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **View more actions**. Then, click **Add to Jira Cloud** and select the **Connect to an existing issue** option.
   * From the monitor dashboard, click <img alt="Options icon" src="https://assets.postman.com/postman-docs/aether-icons/action-options-stroke.svg#icon" width="16px" role="img" /> **View more actions**. Then, click **Add to Jira Cloud** and select the **Connect to an existing issue** option.

3. Under **Select option**, select **Connect existing issue**.

4. Select a Jira site and project. To search for a project, start typing its name.

5. Select an issue. To search for an issue, start typing its name. You can also paste a link to an issue.

6. (Optional) Edit the comment.

7. Click **Connect Issue**.

Postman links your existing Jira issue to your collection, collection run, response, or monitor. When you view your issue’s description in Jira, you’ll see a link to your collection, collection run, or response in Postman.
