# Load skills with the Postman CLI

> As an alternative to the Postman plugin, load Postman's skills into your coding agent by running the Postman CLI postman init command.

As an alternative to installing the plugin, you can load Postman's skills directly into your coding agent using the [Postman CLI](/docs/postman-cli/postman-cli-overview/). Install the Postman CLI, then run `postman init` in your project.

## Install the Postman CLI

Install the Postman CLI to get the `postman` command, which loads Postman's skills into your project.

To install with npm, run the following:

```bash showLineNumbers={false}
npm install -g postman-cli
```

## Load skills with `postman init`

Run `postman init` in your project to load Postman's skills into your coding agent. You can run this single command from any terminal, script, or CI job.
