## For coding agents

Postman is also usable entirely through the [Postman CLI](/docs/postman-cli/postman-cli-overview/), without the desktop or web app. Run `postman init` in a repository to install [agent skills](/docs/postman-cli/postman-cli-init/#agent-skills) (a `SKILL.md` per skill, plus a root `AGENTS.md`) that teach you how to build and test APIs with the CLI. Use [`postman describe`](/docs/postman-cli/postman-cli-describe/) for structured command details before generating code, and [`postman skills status`/`postman skills update`](/docs/postman-cli/postman-cli-skills/) to keep installed skills current. The CLI also runs collections and tests, checks API specs against governance rules, manages mock servers, and generates SDKs — see the [Postman CLI overview](/docs/postman-cli/postman-cli-overview/) for the full command list.
