# Install the Postman plugin from the Postman desktop app

> Install or remove the Postman plugin for Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor from the Help menu in the Postman desktop app, without Node.js.

In the Postman desktop app, you can install the Postman plugin into Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor from the **Help** menu. This method doesn't need Node.js. Check that your agents meet the [requirements](/latest-v-12/docs/postman-plugin/install/overview#requirements) before you start.

> **Info**
>
> This method isn't available in the [Postman Enterprise app](/latest-v-12/docs/administration/enterprise/managing-enterprise-deployment). Use the [detected-agents installer](/latest-v-12/docs/postman-plugin/install/detected-agents) or [install the plugin for a specific agent](/latest-v-12/docs/postman-plugin/install/per-agent) instead.

## Install the plugin

1. In the Postman desktop app, click **Help > Postman CLI and Plugins > Install Postman Coding Agent Plugin**.
2. When the installation finishes, restart your coding agents to use the plugin.

The app installs the plugin into each of these agents that's on your computer:

* **Claude Code** — The app installs the plugin from [Claude's plugin marketplace](https://claude.com/plugins/postman), and adds the marketplace if it isn't already added.
* **Codex** — The app installs the plugin from the `postmanlabs/postman-plugin` marketplace. The plugin's session-start hook installs untrusted, so Codex asks you to review it the next time it starts. To learn more, see [Codex](/latest-v-12/docs/postman-plugin/install/per-agent#codex).
* **Cursor** — The app installs the plugin from its [GitHub repository](https://github.com/postmanlabs/postman-plugin) into `~/.cursor/plugins/local/postman`, which requires Git. If you've already installed the plugin from the Cursor marketplace, the app leaves that copy in place.

If the app doesn't find any of these agents, or can't run its own installer, it uses the [detected-agents installer](/latest-v-12/docs/postman-plugin/install/detected-agents) instead. The detected-agents installer requires Node.js 22 or later, and installs into every supported agent it detects.

If the plugin is already installed in an agent, the app leaves it in place and doesn't update it. To update the plugin, use the [detected-agents installer](/latest-v-12/docs/postman-plugin/install/detected-agents) or your [agent's own method](/latest-v-12/docs/postman-plugin/install/per-agent).

The Postman desktop app doesn't install the plugin automatically. The app installs the plugin only when you choose to install it from the **Help** menu. If the app installed the plugin for you automatically before, you can [remove the plugin](#remove-the-plugin) from the app.

## Remove the plugin

1. In the Postman desktop app, click **Help > Postman CLI and Plugins > Uninstall Postman Coding Agent Plugin**.
2. Click **Uninstall**.
3. Restart your coding agents for the change to take effect.

The app removes the plugin from Claude Code, Codex, and the Cursor copy in `~/.cursor/plugins/local/postman`. If Cursor also has a copy from its marketplace, remove it in Cursor under **Cursor Settings > Plugins**. To remove the plugin from other agents, run `npx @postman/postman-plugin remove` or use your agent's own method.
