Domain verification is available with Postman Team and Enterprise plans. Domain capture is available only on Postman Enterprise plans with the Advanced Security Administration add-on. You need to reach out to Postman support to enable verification. For more information, see the pricing page.

Following are frequently asked questions about domain verification and capture in Postman.

What happens to captured users and their data when domain capture is enabled?

The experience for captured users and their data (collections, environments) depends on their prior team status:

  • If a captured user is already on your organization’s team and isn’t a member of any other teams, nothing changes for them.
  • If a captured user is a member of multiple teams, including your organization’s team, they’re no longer able to authenticate into any other teams they’re a member of.
  • If a captured user isn’t part of any team:
    • All existing user sessions are revoked.
    • The next time the user logs in, they’re prompted to join your organization’s team using SSO.
    • When the user authenticates into your organization’s team using SSO, their existing data is transferred to the team.
  • If a captured user is part of an existing free or paid team:
    • They’re removed from their existing team.
    • All existing user sessions are revoked.
    • They lose access to all data from their earlier teams, including their own workspaces. No data is transferred from their earlier teams to their new team.
    • The next time the user logs in, they’re prompted to join your organization’s team using SSO.
    • Users can authenticate into your organization’s team using SSO.
  • If a captured user is the last Admin of an existing free team:
    • They’re removed from the team and the remaining users are assigned the Admin role.
  • If a captured user is the last Admin of an existing paid team:
    • They will need to contact Postman support to assign the Admin role to another team member and remove them from the team.
    • They lose access to all data from their earlier teams, including their own workspaces. No data will be transferred from their earlier teams to their new team.
    • Postman support will contact your Admins to discuss how to approach this prior to enabling domain capture for a verified domain in your team.
    • All existing user sessions are revoked.
    • The next time the user logs in, they’re prompted to leave their existing team.
    • Users can authenticate into your organization’s team using SSO.

What happens to captured users when they sign in to Postman?

Users captured by domain capture see the following on their account settings (Setting icon Settings > Account settings):

  • A Copy my data option, allowing them to copy personal workspace data from an external account into the team.
  • An unavailable option to delete their account until they have left all teams.

When a domain-captured user who isn’t part of a team signs in, Postman prompts them to join an organization team.

The user goes through the following steps:

  1. Enters their domain-captured email address, then sees the following message:

Your Postman account is now owned and managed by [Team Name] team.

To continue working on Postman with this account, you need to join the [Team Name] team.

For any questions, contact your organization’s admin or Postman’s support team.

  2. Clicks Join Team [Team Name] to continue signing in to the team.

  3. Authenticates using SSO if the organization has SSO enabled, or completes any additional authentication steps required by the organization.

  4. Is redirected to the Postman homepage as a member of the team.

The user is now signed in as a member of the capturing team and shows up in the team’s member list (Setting icon Settings > Organization settings > Members).

How do I delete a domain?

Admins can delete domains and subdomains from your team in the Domain Management dashboard.

  1. Open Postman and select Setting icon Settings > Organization settings in the Postman header. Select Domain Management in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Manage next to the domain you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete Domain.
