Load skills with the Postman CLI

The Postman plugin loads skills into your coding agent. The Postman CLI instead installs the skills into your project as files you commit with your code. Install the Postman CLI, then run postman init in your project.

Install the Postman CLI

Install the Postman CLI to get the postman command, which loads Postman’s skills into your project.

To install with npm, run the following:

npm install -g postman-cli

To install the Postman CLI for your specific OS, see Install the Postman CLI.

Load skills with postman init

Run postman init in your project to install Postman’s skills into your repository. You can run this single command from any terminal, script, or CI job.

postman init

After it finishes, commit the new postman/skills/ directory and the root AGENTS.md, then push them so everyone who works in the repository gets the skills.
